PRAU lands position on PSFU Board

PRAU president Cynthia Mpanga was recently elected to the distinguished Board of Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) that’s chaired by Mr. Patrick Bitature and composed of a strong team of different Sector representatives who include Dr. Ian Clarke, Mrs Anne Mulindwa, Hon. Elly Karuhanga, Mr. Mathias Katamba, Mr. Gideon Badagawa among others.
This was during PSFU’s 20th PSFU Annual General Meeting held at Protea Hotel on Thursday December 8, 2016. She has been elected under the mandate of her Presidency of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU).The highly contested elective position on the Board of PSFU will represent the entire sector of Professional Organizations.
Cynthia is currently the Country Brand and Marketing Manager for Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, serves on the UN Global Compact Uganda chapter steering committee and is a Board member for an NGO called Educate! Cynthia has over 12 years work experience in; investor relations, product development, corporate communications, motivational speaking, Marketing, Strategy, Planning, event Management, Media Relations, Social Media management, project management, Community investment, Crisis management, brand and reputation management.
PRAU is one of over 25 professional Association members of PSFU having joined in 2004 and it’s a great honour that PRAU got a seat to represent the views and interests of all the other professional Associations/bodies on this Board. PSFU has served as a focal point for private sector advocacy as well as capacity building and continues to sustain a positive policy dialogue with Government on behalf of the private sector. PSFU was founded in 1995.Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is Uganda’s apex body for the private sector. It is made up of over 190 business associations, corporate bodies and the major public sector agencies that support private sector growth.
The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) was established in 1976 and is the umbrella body of all private and public PR professionals, communication specialists, brand managers, mass communication & other related disciplines’ student in Uganda. It is affiliated to other regional and global public relations bodies such as the Eastern African Public Relations Association (EAPRA), the Africa Public Relations Associations (APRA) and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).

The  NBS dummy cheque was handed over to  the PRAU president  Cynthia Mpanga by   NBS’s CEO Kin Kariisa on November  16,2016.This sponsorship package  from NBS TV will cover adverts, interviews ,live coverage during the during the 6th awards period among other things. In September this year, the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) unveiled the 2016 PRAU Excellence Awards with a call for entries for organizations both from the private and public sectors that have demonstrated excellence in the execution of PR, digital, and communication functions. The annual prestigious PRAU Excellence Awards celebrate the greatest achievements and innovations across the public relations industry in Uganda.

 

The awards are open to; PR and communications practitioners, business enterprises/SMEs, government bodies, PR agencies, associations, NGO’s, students pursuing PR related courses, and in-house PR departments. The PRAU awards entry submission deadline was on November 11, 2016. Entries submitted for the PRAU Excellence Awards are judged by an independent panel of senior practitioners.

 

The main objectives of the awards are to: uplift the standard in the Public Relations industry, recognize, showcase and uphold professionalism in the Public Relations industry in Uganda, Honour leadership, service, knowledge and practice in the field as well as promote the good name, image and reputation of PRAU.

 

The Public Relations Association of Uganda is the umbrella public relations body of Uganda. It is affiliated with other regional and global public relations bodies such as the Eastern African Public Relations Association, the Federation of Africa Public Relations Associations (FAPRA) and the International Public Relations Association. The association was founded in 1976 as an umbrella organization of all public relations practitioners and professionals in public and private institutions in Uganda.

NTV’s Flavia participated in the 7th PRAU health run which was on Thursday October 27, 2016.She was the chief celebrant at the run.Flavia was invited by PRAU as the guest for the October run. Over 15 people participated in the run. The participants were PR practitioners in Uganda and some of Flavia’s fan club members. PRAU’s Monthly run promotes health living and professional networking.

 

It was the first time for PRAU to host a practicing media personality. No wonder the PRAU president had this to say “This opportunity gives us a chance to learn from her” Cynthia thanked all the GC members who were able to come for the run. Flavia surely loves to Keep Fit even if she has a busy Schedule. She participated in all the PRAU sessions of warming up and running.

Flavia received a certificate of appreciation form the PRAU president Cynthia Mpanga. “Yes, am very happy to take some time off and run with the PRAU team. What they are doing is very noble – to try and keep their hardworking members fit while achieving the highest success in their careers. For that I applaud them. See you PRAU next Thursday!” This is what Flavia posted days before the run.

Housing Finance bank was the official prize sponsor in terms of umbrellas for the October PRAU run. It was represented by Kiwooma Victoria.URA’s Ian pledged to give twenty (20) clocks for the next PRAU Run.PR president also told participants that PRAU intends to hold the PRAU end of year party in December. PRAU president thanked Coca-Cola for being a PRAU run refreshment sponsor by providing Dasani water from the start.

Flavia Tumusiime is a Ugandan actress, radio and television host, voice-over artist, emcee and author of 30 Days of Flavia. She presents a mid-morning radio show (AM-PM Show) on 91.3 Capital FM and is a VJ for Channel O. She is currently playing the role of Kamali Tenywa (lead role) in Uganda’s exciting, action packed television series Beneath The Lies. She has hosted local, regional and international events including the Guinness Football Challenge and Big Brother Africa.

 

The Public Relations Association of Uganda is the only umbrella body of all communicators and PROS in both the private and public sector in the country. It provides different platforms for member engagement and participation which include; awarding exceptional PR Excellence, thought leadership, training and development, corporate social responsibility, networking, advocacy, mentorship, online learning among others.

PRAU President shares impeccable PR skills with Bugolobi #Rotarians

On Wednesday  31  August, the PRAU President joined the Rotary Club of Bugolobi to discuss matters PR.Cynthia Mpanga presented the topic “BEST PRACTICES FOR INTERNAL & EXTERNAL PR” to a full house of Rotarians at The City Royale Hotel where the Rotary Club of Bugolobi meets every week.

“It was an engaging platform sharing best practices with the members”, said Cynthia Mpanga at the end of her presentation.

“I am also proud of the work that Rotary does especially in the corporate social responsibility circles. This was therefore a worthy engagement to advise them on how their internal and external communications can improve both for the benefit of their club and their association as a whole”.

Rotary embraces their diverse background and unity to exchange new ideas, apply expertise, and implement improvements that transform communities.

Their members work locally and partner on international projects that address today’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. The impact their members make takes shape at Rotary club meetings and activities.
